What advantages does a slatted frame have?

Types of slatted frames: Rigid slatted frame

The simplest form of the slatted frame is the rigid slatted frame. This can still be found in many households. Pocket spring mattresses are often placed on rigid slatted frames, which do not tolerate adjustments very well. Even the rigid slatted frames usually have a division into zones, which helps to support or relieve different body areas. Individual zones are thus adjustable, which is particularly good for the shoulder area. The slatted frame has a certain number of spring slats; the more spring slats, the better the body can be cushioned. The spring slats can be made from different materials, which affects the properties of the slatted frame.

Lattenrost verstellbar

Bei einem Lattenrost der verstellbar ist, lassen sich meist Kopf und/oder Fußteil unabhängig voneinander in der Höhe verstellen. Somit kann man dann gemütlich im Bett ein Buch lesen oder fernsehen. Oder man kann einfach ganz entspannt die Füße hochlegen. Für verstellbare Lattenroste eignen sich besonders gut Kaltschaummatratzen, Vsco- oder Latexmatratzen. da diese die persönlichen Einstellungen besser aufnehmen und direkt an den Körper weitergeben. Nicht geeignet sind Taschenfederkern- und Federkernmatratzen, da diese die Einstellwirkung dämpfen. Für ein Ehebett empfiehlt sich die Anschaffung von zwei getrennten Lattenrosten, damit diese persönlich und optimal auf die Liegebedürfnisse der einzelnen Person eingestellt werden können.

Usually, in a slatted frame that is electrically adjustable, not only the head and foot sections are adjustable, but they are also essentially divided, so the upper back area can be adjusted individually and the lower leg area or the foot section can be lowered. However, there is also the slatted frame with an adjustable head section. There are also 7 zone slatted frames, which allow for a more precise body adaptation, as the lying surface is divided into smaller adjustable areas. Accordingly, one should also use a 7 zone mattress for this.

Plate slatted frames have many advantages over conventional slatted frames. Slats cannot give way pointwise but only over the entire length of the slat. Plate slatted frames, on the other hand, can adapt individually to the body every few centimeters. A plate slatted frame offers perfect pressure relief and has an incomparable point elasticity due to the modules that move in all directions, which are typical for a plate slatted frame, benefiting especially side sleepers. Often, with such a slatted frame, the degree of hardness can be adjusted at the individual modules, providing virtually endless possibilities to customize the support to individual needs.

Taking the popular bed 180 x 200 as an example, with a length of 180 cm and a width of 200 cm, it can either be equipped with one slatted frame 180 x 200 or two slatted frames 90 x 200. The standard length for beds, mattresses, and slatted frames in Germany is 200 centimeters. Some manufacturers also offer special sizes of 220 cm.

Zone slatted frame

Currently, the market predominantly offers slatted frames with five or seven zones. If individual adjustments are to be made in all body areas, a slatted frame with at least five zones is required. These body areas include the head, shoulders, lumbar region, hips, and legs. Even more adjustments can be made with a 7-zone slatted frame. To form a homogeneous unit from the mattress and the adjustable slatted frame, it is important that the mattress has the same number of zones as the slatted frame. For older people, a slatted frame equipped with a motor is suitable. This allows adjustments to be made while lying down, without having to leave the bed. With a 7-zone slatted frame, adjustments can be made for the following body parts:

The heels
The calves
The thighs
The lumbar spine
The buttocks
The neck
The back
The head

The shoulder area is usually not adjustable on a 7-zone slatted frame to prevent the bending of the cervical spine. A slatted frame with 5 zones has a total of 25 slats and is less adjustable than a 7-zone slatted frame.
