Slatted frame 90x200
What advantages does a 90x200 slatted frame have?
Why is a slatted frame necessary?
A slatted frame supports not only the mattress and the sleeper, but it also optimizes sleep comfort and the good properties of the mattress. Therefore, slatted frames and mattresses should be viewed as a unit that can perfectly complement each other. Because what good is it if you buy a particularly high-quality mattress and the slatted frame, on the other hand, is worthless or incompatible with the mattress? Then, firstly, you won't enjoy the mattress for long, and secondly, it can significantly worsen the lying comfort. Because even during sleep, the spine should remain in its natural S-shape and not sag, which can certainly happen with an incorrect slatted frame.
Types of slatted frame 90x200: Rigid slatted frame 90x200
The simplest form of the slatted frame is the rigid slatted frame. This can still be found in many households. Spring mattresses are often placed on rigid slatted frames, which do not tolerate adjustments very well. Even rigid slatted frames usually have a division into zones, which helps to support or relieve different body parts. Individual zones are thus adjustable, which is particularly good for the shoulder area. The slatted frame has a certain number of spring slats; the more spring slats, the better the body can be cushioned. The spring slats can be made from different materials, which affects the properties of the slatted frame.
Adjustable slatted frame 90x200
With an adjustable slatted frame, the head and/or foot section can usually be adjusted in height independently of each other. This allows you to comfortably read a book or watch TV in bed. Or you can simply relax and put your feet up. Cold foam mattresses, visco- or latex mattresses are particularly suitable for adjustable slatted frames, as they better accommodate personal settings and directly transfer them to the body. Pocket spring and spring core mattresses are not suitable, as they dampen the adjustment effect. For a double bed, it is advisable to purchase two separate slatted frames, so that they can be individually and optimally adjusted to the lying needs of each person.
Slatted frame 90x200 electrically adjustable
Slatted frames that are electrically adjustable are usually operated with 4 independent motors. These slatted frames are generally more expensive than slatted frames without motors, but they also offer more sleeping comfort. Usually, in a wooden frame that is electrically adjustable, not only the head and foot sections are adjustable, but they are practically divided into two parts, so the upper back area can be adjusted individually and the lower leg area or the foot section can be lowered. There is also the slatted frame with an adjustable head section. There are also 7 zone slatted frames, which allow for a more precise body adaptation, as the lying surface is divided into smaller adjustable areas. Accordingly, one should also use a 7 zone mattress.
Slatted frame 90x200 variations
Roller slats: A roller slat is easier to transport than rigid slatted frames. You can store a roller slat space-savingly if you want to use it for a guest bed, for example. Roller slats are the cheapest option compared to other slatted frames.
Wooden frame: the most common type of slatted frame
Plate slatted frame: In the strict sense, a plate slatted frame is not a slatted frame; it does not consist of slats like conventional slatted frames but rather of movable plates. The discs look like small plates. A plate slatted frame is good for side sleepers, as it optimally relieves the shoulder and pelvis. The plates can adapt to the body more independently than slats because they can be adjusted individually by 360 degrees. With plate slatted frames, the degree of hardness can be individually adjusted to the different body zones. In general, plate slatted frames are considered very soft, as they yield very locally. One should definitely test a plate slatted frame beforehand, as they are also not cheap to purchase. There are also hybrids, where the slatted frame consists of a combination of slats and plates. The plates are usually arranged in the shoulder or pelvic area, as the plates ensure optimal sinking.
Tellerlattenrost 90x200
size of slatted frame
The choice of size for slatted frames is naturally closely related to the sizes of your bed, which is why we offer all slatted frames in the standard sizes. These sizes are derived from the various mattress dimensions. Depending on the choice of beds, the size and number of slatted frames are determined. For a single bed, for example, a maximum slatted frame of 140 x 200 can be selected, and often the size 80 x 200 is also available. In the case of double beds, the fundamental question arises as to whether to use one or two slatted frames. Taking the popular bed 180 x 200 as an example, with a length of 180 cm and a width of 200 cm, it can either be equipped with one slatted frame 180 x 200 or twice with the slatted frame 90 x 200. The width for the frames is a maximum of 200 centimeters. Here is an overview of the slatted frame sizes:
- slatted frame 90x200 cm
- slatted frame 100x200 cm
- slatted frame 120x200 cm
- slatted frame 140x200 cm
- Slatted frame 160x200 cm
- Slatted frame 180x200 cm
- Slatted frame 200 x 200 cm
The standard length for beds, mattresses, and slatted frames in Germany is 200 centimeters. Some manufacturers also offer special sizes of 220 cm.
Zones slatted frame 90x200
Currently, the market predominantly offers slatted frames with five or seven zones. If individual adjustments are to be made in all body areas, a slatted frame with at least five zones is required. These body areas include the head, shoulders, lumbar region, hips, and legs. Even more adjustments can be made with a 7-zone slatted frame. To create a homogeneous unit from the mattress and the adjustable slatted frame, it is important that the mattress has the same number of zones as the slatted frame. For older people, a slatted frame equipped with a motor is suitable. This allows adjustments to be made while lying down, without having to leave the bed. With a 7-zone slatted frame, adjustments can be made for the following body parts:
- The heels
- The calves
- The thighs
- The lumbar spine
- The buttocks
- The neck
- The back
- The head
The shoulder area is usually not adjustable on a 7-zone slatted frame to prevent the bending of the cervical spine. A slatted frame with 5 zones has a total of 25 slats and is less adjustable than a 7-zone slatted frame.
Materials slatted frame 90x200
For the manufacture of a slatted frame, different types of wood are used. Primarily, birch wood, ash wood, and beech wood are utilized, which differ in terms of their durability and load-bearing capacity. Beech wood is particularly suitable as it is extremely durable, stable, and load-bearing. The quality of a slatted frame is determined not only by the type of wood used but also by the number of individual veneer layers, meaning how many layers of veneer wood are stacked and glued together. Good quality is characterized by the fact that the individual slats consist of at least five glued veneer layers, with this specification referring to individuals with a normal body weight. The situation is different for individuals with a higher body weight, for whom a seven- to tenfold gluing of the slats is recommended. In addition to the processing of the slats of the slatted frame, their width and number are of utmost importance. The quality of a slatted frame is also determined by these factors, as the slats fulfill specific functions. In principle, the narrower the individual slats are, the higher their number, and the greater the lying or sleeping comfort. If the slats are wide and their number is low with relatively large gaps, the movements of the body when changing sleeping positions cannot be elastically cushioned, as the slats are too static and the gaps are too large. Only many slats with small gaps guarantee point elasticity, as this base adapts to the contours of the body. A high-quality slatted frame therefore has at least 25 slats, more is better. This means that the distance between the individual slats is less than four centimeters. This is also a must for good quality. The quality of the slatted frame becomes particularly important in conjunction with the mattress. A foam or latex mattress as a top layer only unfolds its full effect and elasticity when the slatted frame has a multitude of slats. Otherwise, parts of these two mattress types get compressed through the too large gaps. This not only significantly reduces lying comfort but also negates the purpose and intent of the mattress and slatted frame, namely elastic and spine-relieving lying. A reproduction of the body contours is impossible with such a slatted frame. To ensure that the slatted frame can cushion the body contours accordingly, a maximum width of the slats of five centimeters is recommended. As many and as narrow slats as possible serve another purpose. They also ensure adequate ventilation and good air circulation, which also increases the lifespan of the mattress.
Center strap slatted frame 90x200
Often, one finds a slatted frame with a center strap that connects the individual slats of the frame together. Most of our slatted frames also have such a center strap. But what is it for? On one hand, the center strap serves to stabilize the slatted frame by practically binding the cross slats together. On the other hand, it ensures that the pressure exerted on the slatted frame is distributed across several slats. This allows the weight to be better distributed and achieves better rebound. If someone wants the entire slatted frame to be a bit softer, they can remove the center strap to achieve this. However, this will result in the loss of the aforementioned advantages.
Mattress and slatted frame 90x200
With a spring core, pocket spring core, or Bonell mattress, you actually don't need a slatted frame, as these mattresses can demonstrate particularly good breathability. However, a slatted frame should be used, as it can provide particularly high point elasticity in conjunction with the mattress. However, a slatted frame that is highly adjustable should not be used, as this is not good for the mattress. It "buckles" and can form unsightly and unergonomic depressions, which in turn is not good for the stability of the body. The suitable slatted frame for cold foam mattresses should have small gaps, so that the slats of the slatted frame do not exceed 4 cm. The small slat spacing ensures that the mattress does not sag through the slats and is an ideal support. For this reason, a high number of slats is also required to maintain the good pressure point distribution of the mattress. 28 slats are good, but it is better if you have a slatted frame with 42 slats. This way, the weight is distributed evenly and the lying properties are increased many times over. Furthermore, these slatted frames can also be used for all flexible cold foam, latex, and visco mattresses. Highly adjustable slatted frames are also suitable for all natural mattresses.
